My first 2Crafty Share for July!!

Hi everyone, I'm here to share my first layout for 2Crafty Chipboard for July.

We are in the middle of winter here in Australia, and where I live it's freezing!

I always feel a bit flat when it's cold and dreary, so I've created a bright layout, hoping that will offset the cold.......(one can only hope hey).

Colour always makes me feel brighter.

It's titled:

"Brave"

I used the following 2Crafty Chipboard:

'Indian Feathers'
'Soft Feather Set'
'Polaroid Assorted Frames'
'Dreamcatchers'
'Assorted Arrows'
'Brave Title'

I had these photos of my warrior daughter who dressed up for her High School Sports Day.

I love them and I adore feathers -  as you can see I've used a lot!

I used a couple of different techniques on them.

On the 'Indian Feathers' I applied black paint and then rubbed on some of Finnabair's Acrylic Paint in Opal Magic - Aqua Rose.

This is a cool product.

I purchased it on a recent trip to Scrap Matrix.  Vicki has really cool mixed media products - stuff that is hard to get here in Australia. Plus she's one lovely chick.

On lighter backgrounds this product comes out a pinky tone, and on a dark background it's this beautiful teal colour.

It has a beautiful opalescent shine.

To one of the 'Dreamcatchers' and also one of the 'Soft Feathers' I applied white gesso and then stamped a script stamp with black over the top.

I finished off with a bit of ink.

I really love how these turned out.

I painted some of the 'Assorted Arrows' black.

I painted a 'Polaroid Assorted Frame' in green and then stamped a triangle pattern onto this randomly.

To create my title I painted the 'Brave' with black paint and then added the  product
(the same technique as with the 'Indian Feathers').

I added stacks of products from the one and only Kit the Habit.

I really love using one or two of these products on my layouts.

For those who don't know Kit the Habit is the collaboration of ME and Emzascrapper.

We have loads of fun creating and making our very own scrapping products.

On this page I used:

a 'Find your Wild' flair
an acrylic tepee (so cute!)
lots of feathers
metal arrowheads
a Project Life Card
a couple of quotes from our 'Little Bit of Randoms'.

If you want to join our 'Kit the Habit' group for details of releases and just scrappy chit chat go HERE

The final step was to swipe some black paint around the edges of the page, and flick some paint over the layout (don't forget to cover up your photo first!)

I hope you've enjoyed this one.....I had a blast creating it!

I'll be back with more soon!

July Scrap the Girls Challenge!!!

Hi everyone

Yep it's the first of the month again!

Yikes!!

So there's a new challenge over at Scrap the Girls, and it's pretty damn awesome.

I present...... "Dark Moon"......take inspiration from this moodboard to create your layout, and of course your photos must be of girls (no boys allowed)

Well I must admit I found this one daunting.

I think that's because there was not much colour..... and you know how much I love colour!!

But I'm a big fan of feathers!

So this is what I came up with......

I took inspiration from everything!

I created the stripes by simply painting directly onto white cardstock.

I then added some watercolour in the moody maroons and blues featured in the mood board.  I also added these colours by adding paint to some 2Crafty Chipboard and also a Kit the Habit die cut feather.

I knew I  had the perfect photo of my daughter when she recently dressed up for her school sports day.  It was in bright green, so I changed it to black and white.

I created a cluster underneath the photo and added loads of feathers from Kit the Habit, some flowers in the matching colours, a couple of keys, some more 2 crafty chippy and a Kit the Habit flair.

.
I also added some beads, which kind of just sits nicely in the cluster of flowers.  This is another Kit the Habit goody.

I finished off with my journaling (which is inspired by the quote in the moodboard), and a few flicks of watercolour paint.

The prize this month over at Scrap the Girls is donated by:

The Resin Rainbow. An awesome site with lots of great goodies!

So head on over to the Scrap the Girls Blog and checkout the rest of the Design Team's awesome creations, and don't forget to link up your entry by the end of the month!

I can't wait to see what you create.

My second 2Crafty Chipboard share for June

My next creation for 2Crafty Chipboard is totally different to my previous one.

I've gone grungy and rustic.

It's titled:

"Adventure awaits"

I used the following 2Crafty Chipboard:

"Chevron Bits"
"Steampunk Medium Gears"
"Steampunk Small Gears"
"Chain lengths"
"Adventure loopy title"
"Chained Circle Frames"
"Assorted Arrows"

I grunged up the background paper by adding some stamping in black ink, and also some flicks and blobs of spritz.

I also added some random strips of paper, to which I applied gesso.

As I wanted some of the chipboard to look like rusty metal, I applied Finnabair's Rust Effect Paste.

I was thrilled with how it came out.  So simple.

The rust comes in 3 colours - Red Rust, Brown Rust and Gold Rust.

I got these on a recent retail therapy trip to the fabulous shop Scrap Matrix.

I just rubbed it over the chipboard quite randomly.

I did this for the 'Steampunk Small Gears' and 'Steampunk Medium Gears'

and also for the 'Chained Circle Frames' and the 'Chain Lengths'.

I painted a few 'Assorted Arrows' and 'Chevron Bits' in black, and also added black paint to my title 'Adventure loopy font'.

I then added some extra embellishments - quotes, metal bits and flicks of paint.

I really enjoyed doing a grungy layout.

It's been a long time as I get so distracted by COLOUR!

This layout really reminded me to step out of my comfort zone and try something a little different.

I hope you do too!!

Much love

My first 2Crafty Chipboard Share for June!

Hi everyone.

Today I'm sharing the first of my creations for 2Crafty Chipboard.

It's called:

"Live out Loud"

A bright fun layout celebrating friendships.

As many of you know I am a big fan of colour!! and as this layout celebrates a fun occasion vibrant colour is perfect.

I used the following 2Crafty Chipboard:

'Flower Doilies'
'Grid Bits'
'Lattice Leaves'
'Live out Loud Title'

I began by adding paint to the background.

Onto this I applied a stencil with transparent gloss gel.

This just gives a bit of texture to the background without detracting from the photos.

I added some stamping with black ink to help blend the paint into the cardstock.

I then applied gesso to the 'Grid Bits'.

and also to the 'Flower Doilies'.

I painted the 'Live out Loud' title in black paint

I also painted the 'Lattice Leaves' with the black paint too.

I love how the black pops against the colour and also the white background.

I finished off the layout by layering up behind the photos and adding a cluster of flowers.

I included one of my favourite flairs from Kit the Habit which of course means it was designed and made by myself and the fabulous Emma.

I also included some of the cool quotes from our 'Little Bit of Randoms'.

These are on sale at the moment.....so make sure you check it out.

Finally to finish I added a few flicks and splashes of black paint, and some quotes to help tell the story.

Well that's it from me for today, I will be back really soon to share my second layout.

Happy creating to you.

June Scrap the Girls

Hi Scrap the Girlies!!

Yay!! It's the first of the month!  Something I always look forward to as it means a whole new set of Challenges.

I'm here to share this month's Scrap the Girls Challenge!

This time it's a sketch, and I absolutely love it!!

It's not my usual style.  I don't usually scrap so flowery, but as soon as I saw it I knew what I wanted to do.
So it's time to jump in!

Here's my layout:

This one is about my gorgeous little niece Yvy who lives in Texas.  She is just the cutest.  I recently spent some time with her and well, yep she stole my heart.

I painted the flowers with watercolour paint, and then cut them out!
So Simple and I had such fun creating them.
I attached them to the layout with foam tape to give some dimension.

I added some gorgeous 2Crafty Chipboard - my absolute favourite chipboard company. I used a "6
' Revolution Frame" around the photos, "Those Eyes Title" and "Leafy Shrub Set 1".

I inked the frame and title with a gorgeous turquoise.

I applied gesso to the leafy shrubs but then felt like they got a little lost.
So I decided to trace parts of them onto my background using a black pen.
I really liked the whimsical feel this created, and it rekindled my love affair with doodling.
I also added a few dots to my painted chipboard.

I finished with a few flicks of paint and the all important journaling.

This month we have a prize from Charm's Creations.

So for your chance to win some gorgeous handmade embellishments, head on over to the Scrap the Girls blog and link up your layout!!
