Having a play with Uniquely Creative stuff!!

Hi everyone,

I was lucky enough to be asked to play with this month's Mini Kit by Uniquely Creative called 'Indigenous Journey'!

I may have squealed when I opened the beautiful parcel!!  One word.....gorgeous.

The kit contains some stamps, stencils and a few embellishments too.
Plus I was thrilled to receive their new watercolour set and an Essentials Stamp too.
Lucky girl.

I love that they are local, designed here in South Australia! So cool.
I've had a play with their stamps and stencils before so I knew they were great quality.
I was itching to try out their watercolours.

As soon as I saw everything, the ideas began to flow...... I just love that feeling!
Actually, the ideas didn't just flow, they kinda flooded (lol) and I ended up creating 4 layouts!!

So let's take a look.......

Love that 'Indigenous stripes stencil' in the background, which I added a watercolour background to, inspired by the rainbow scarf in the photo.
Those watercolour paints are awesome.  Lovely bright colours, right up my alley!
For this layout I used 'Lemon', 'Cerulean blue', 'Viridian', and 'Rose'.

This photo was taken of my niece from the USA, when they were visiting last year.
So those word embellishments just suited it perfectly.

See those gorgeous kraft flowers that are framing the photo? Those are cut from the post bag that my goodies came in.....yep you can totally understand why I squealed, and it was just too beautiful to discard, so I cut them out and added them to my layout.
Recycling at it's best!!

You'll see a couple of little circles tucked amongst the layers.
I stamped some of the circle stamps using the 'Indigenous Textures Stamp' onto cardstock and cut out the circles.

Those chevron triangles are also cut out of these stamped circles from the 'Indigenous Textures Stamp'.

Ok, so let's take a look at the second layout......

I created a watercolour background by painting some trees (inspired by the photos), and also letting some run down the page.
I used the colours 'Prussian Blue', 'Grey', 'Sepia', 'Cerulean blue', 'Viridian' and 'White'.

So therapeutic, just sitting and painting trees!

I added a few flicks of watercolour to the top section of the layout.

I used the word embellishments and the title cut to begin my journaling.

This layout celebrates our daily walk from the beach whilst on our annual holiday.
Every time I walk behind my tribe, this is my view and it makes me a little emotional, as each year the kids get taller and older.
It's one of those moments that I want to hold in my heart forever.

Let's take a look at my third layout......

Another rainbow watercolour background.
Easy, fun and effective.
I used 'Rose', 'Lemon', 'Viridian', 'Cerulean Blue' and a mix of 'Cerulean Blue' and 'Rose' to create the purple.
I really wanted to include purple as it just went so perfectly with the photos.

I painted  those flowers onto watercolour paper, using the 'grey' watercolour from the set.

I then cut them all out.  I love the contrast of the black and white against the bright rainbow colours.

I also added in a cut title 'Sunshine' from my little stash of 'Uniquely Creative' supplies.

I stamped that little 'go for it girls' from the 'Creative Quotes' Stamp.

I added another stamp from this set to the bottom of the layout, as part of my journaling.

Perfect!
And see those little hearts, they came from a Uniquely Creative Die cut in my stash too.

Now for the final layout......

A messy and grungy 'boy' page.

I began by swiping black gesso through the 'Indigenous Stripes Stencil' quite randomly across the middle of the page.
Once this dried, I added some watercolour paint in the colours 'Cerulean blue' and 'Viridian'.

I then stamped some of the circles from the 'Idigenous Textures Stamp' onto cardstock. Some of these I stamped in black ink and some I stamped with the watercolours. I then cut them out.
I love the effect of this. I used the colours 'Viridian', 'Cerulean Blue, 'Prussian Blue' plus I added some 'Lemon' and 'Champagne' to get a lime colour.

I added some paint and some pen doodles around some of them.

I then added in some of the word embellishments.

They were perfect for this layout, documenting my boy and our love of geo-caching together.

That cut title was also the perfect choice.

There you have it!!
Told you I got carried away.

2 Crafty inspiration and 7Dots challenge!

Hello there creative souls

I've just popped in to share my latest 2Crafty Chipboard Creation titled:

"A Glimpse of You"

I used the following 2Crafty Chipboard:

"A Glimpse of You title"
"Mini Branches"
"Fine Snowflakes"
"Assorted Polaroid Frames"

I began by coating some of the "Assorted Polaroid Frames" in white gesso and then added white acrylic paint.

I added these to the background of the layout.

I swiped some Metallique Wax over the "Mini Branches" and added these to the cluster.

I love the effect of the wax....and it smells so good!

For the "A Glimpse of You title", I added Distress Oxide and a touch of white gesso to give it a more pastel shade of green.

I love that I can add these titles over my photos.

The font is gorgeous!!
Fine, yet detailed.

To finish off my cluster, I cut some of the sprigs from the "Fine Snowflakes" and coated them in a brown ink.

I then poked them throughout the cluster.

This just finishes off the layout.

Now when I sat down to create this layout, I was a little at a loss.

I'd had a busy couple of days and had only a couple of hours to pull something together.

I like my pages to come together quickly, so when this happens, I immediately go searching for inspiration in the form of a challenge.

I couldn't go past the one over at 7Dots Studio......

Sigh...I can always rely on finding inspiration in their mood boards.

I found inspiration in the colours and the nature theme.

Once I found a suitable photo, there was no stopping me - it came together quickly.

It really sparks my ideas and gets the creativity flowing.

It gives me direction and also forces me to try new things.

I used loads of 7Dots Products - the background sheet is from Nature Walk. I used the Dreamscapes Stencil, Tags and Stamps. I also used Garden Party Word Stickers, Airmail Element Die Cuts and even a bit of Verano Azul 6x6 Paper Pad.

I adore that they all co-ordinate so beautifully.
I source all my 7Dots goodies locally, from a South Australian store Scrap Matrix.

I'll be back again real soon with some more scrappy stuff.

Purple really is my friend.....
5 Art Journal Pages

I'm back to share a few more purple creations with you all for the current challenge over at Scrap Matrix.
Why didn't someone tell me earlier that all I needed to do to find my purple mojo was pair it with teal??

I've had such fun playing with these two colours together, in fact, I couldn't stop!
My goal was to create a journal page, but I got a little carried away and ended up with 5!
You see when purple suddenly starts playing nice it's something that you wanna just GO with.

This one was inspired by someone I follow on Instagram - Robin Mead.
Her work is colourful, bright and totally inspires me.

I dug out all my purple and teal paints, and hand painted some trees.
I added some patterns to them by using both hand doodling and stencils.

My second creation is inspired by an amazing artist I follow on Instagram -  Audree Marsolais - again really colourful - her work really speaks to me.

I loved creating the background, then adding in some leaves, and then filling it in with some white paint.

I was so happy with the result I just had to create it in black!

.
I really love the look.

For the next creation, I decided to try and go a bit more pastel, rather than bright.

After creating these above projects, I then had a special delivery of the NEW Tracy Scott Paper Artsy stamps and stencils I pre-ordered.

Well of course I just had to have another play!!

I am IN LOVE with those scribbled flowers!!!

Glorious!!

I used Paper Artsy Paints in 'sargasso', 'beach hut', 'lavender' and 'snowflake'.

Let's take a look at the stencils and stamps I used:

You can find the Tracy goodies HERE.
