Scrap the Girls - Welcome to 2019 and a new challenge

Welcome to 2019!!
I really hope it is a year filled with joy and magic and creativity.

To get the ball rolling, Scrap the Girls has a fun new challenge. I adore their challenges, they are always so different and really force me to think outside of the box!

Sadly, this is my final share as a Designer for them. I decided my life was just a little too frantic!! Something had to give.
I also have a daughter going into Year 12, and I just need to let go of something.
Believe me, it's been a hard decision as I have really loved the last couple of years on this team.  They are definitely a positive and fun and creative bunch, led by the fabulous Krisy. I will miss them!!

I look forward to seeing what the new team has instore. I will definitely look out for the challenges and hopefully play along now and then too.

Right, let's have a look at this challenge.......

Gorgeous!! It's titled "Time Traveller" and you can head on over to Krisy's Pinterest board and get inspired by the gorgeous pics. Here's the link   https://www.pinterest.com.au/popleopod/pin-up/

Here's what I came up with.....

I was inspired by ALL the images!
Nothing in particular, but more the general vibe.
The stripes, the black, the pops of red, the vintage feel.

I painted on the white stripes and those feathers just felt so right.

I nearly squealed when I found that flair with the red lips, especially as I knew which photos I would use.

I love those little vintage hat pins!
Another perfect stash find.

I added some fun 2Crafty Chipboard pieces, and a quote that well, just seemed to sum up exactly ME right now.

Such a fun challenge, with so many possibilities.
I really hope you give this one a go.

Head on over to the BLOG to see the rest of the Design Team's take on the challenge.

Scrap the Girls December Challenge!!

Say what!!!

It's December!!! How on earth has that happened??

Well the Magic Season is here, and we all get busy busy busy, so it was great therapy to create for this month's challenge over at Scrap the Girls.

Here's the mood board titled 'The Christmas Dress' - the idea is to be inspired by one of these dresses! How cute, such a great idea! Don't forget its all about the GIRLS in our lives!

So here's what I came up with:

Inspired by that navy/blue dress with the silver deer!

I was pretty excited when I found that paper in my stash!! Perfect.

I applied a layer of white gesso to go with the snow theme of my layout.

I scrapped my beautiful nieces who live in the USA, and this photo captures their joy at the falling of snow just perfectly.....wishes really do come true!  I just love the emotion!

This month we are sponsored by Cut to You - Gwen has the most gorgeous cuts available - you must check them out.

I loved adding a couple of their Christmas trees within my layers.

I left them white as they went perfectly with the snow theme.

I also used a cut for my title 'merry christmas' - I just love the script font and the stars.

I decided to apply gesso to this and then added Dylusions Ink Spray in 'London Blue'.  Instead of spraying it on, I opened the bottle and applied with a brush - just love the mottled watercolour effect this gave.

If you follow my work, you know I'm a big user of Dylusions Ink Sprays - I always order mine from Scrap Matrix.

I added some 2Crafty Chipboard cause it was just SO PERFECT!

I used the' Deer Head Set' and applied Antique Silver Emboss Powder.

I also added 'Swaying Branches' into my layers - I added white gesso and then doodled on them a little.

I also added stars from 'Tiny Hearts and Stars'. I added navy ink to these and randomly scattered them.

I look forward to seeing what you come up with for this awesome challenge.

Sometimes I find Christmas tricky to scrap, but using one of the dresses as my starting point made it easy, and enabled me to use an alternate colour scheme.

Don't forget to pop on over to the blog and check out the rest of the DT's creations, and see which dress inspired them!!

Thanks for hanging with me throughout the year, I wish you a magical December.

Scrap the Girls - November Challenge

Well it's that time of the month! Lol..... the first, so it's new challenge time over at Scrap the Girls.

I love the challenges we have there - so creative and a little different to the 'norm'.

So the new moodboard looks like this:

It's called "Get Lost" and the idea is to be inspired by your favourite fairy tale.  How much fun is that!!

I could have done a number of pages for this one, as I have a teen daughter who is Disney Princess crazy, and often around here I feel like I fell down the rabbit hole! Lol

But I ended up going with one of my favourite moments when we visited Disneyland a few years ago, meeting Princess Anna!! Yep I never want to forget that. I love her - her enthusiasm and positivity, her carefree, bubbly nature mixed with that awkwardness.  And yep she didn't disappoint. She was perfect.

I took my inspiration from the colours in Anna's dress - but then it was all too much, so I changed the photos to black and white. Much better.

I added some 2Crafty Chipboard as it just fit so well - I used stars, a title that was just perfect, and a gorgeous floral swirl that reminded me of the embroidery on Anna's dress.

I also took inspiration from the watercolour image on the bottom right.

So let's take a closer look:

Here's that title - I love applying different colours to the different fonts.

Here you can see the chipboard Flower Vine.

Creating that background was a lot of fun.  I used Dylusions Ink Spray which I get from my favourite scrappy store Scrap Matrix - and yes you can order online!
Messy but fun!

I created some tags from 7Dots paper to pop my journaling on.  I also source these from Scrap Matrix.

I also used some 7Dots stickers.

I added some scribbles and fun words around the edge to finish it off.

So that's my creation.... I can't wait to see what you come up with!!

Head on over to the Scrap the Girls Blog to see the rest of the team's inspiring layouts. Those girls are awesome!

I'll see you again soon, til then happy creating!

Scrap the Girls October Reveal!!

So it's the first of October.....we are one month into Spring and I'm not feeling it yet!!

Yes we need rain, but we also need some sunshine around here!!

A new challenge is up today over at Scrap the Girls.........

It's Breast Cancer Awareness month....so lots of PINK! Gorgeous Inspiration.....

Here's what I came up with....

I took inspiration from the Pink, the words and also that gorgeous dress with the black and white florals.

I added some 2Crafty Chipboard leaves in amongst all the layers. These particular leaves are my favourite as they just tuck in everywhere and anywhere and look fabulous.

I left these raw and I love the way that looks against the pink.

I also included lots of tags and embellishments from 7Dots Studio.  I think their tags turn up on EVERY SINGLE LAYOUT I create.  Just adore them.

I get my 7Dots Studio stash from my favourite scrappy store Scrap Matrix.

For my title I used some stamps by Dina Wakley, again available from Scrap Matrix.

I added my journaling in between - so effectively the stamps are both my title and journaling!

The journaling/title reads....

"Remember to stay brave and stay strong about what is important to you. But always remember to stay kind. Kindness will ultimately change the world."

Now for those gorgeous black and white flowers!

I used my favourite AALL & Create stamp #20  by Carol AndCo, also available from Scrap Matrix.
Sigh. I just love this one so much.

Really love these photos of my girl - so typical of her!!

Don't forget to head over to the BLOG to check out the rest of the Design Team's creations.  As always they pack a punch.....so much inspiration.

This month's sponsor is Corbett Creations - she has gorgeous embellishments that she designs herself. You need to check them out!

I look forward to seeing how this month's challenge inspires you......so don't forget to link up over on our blog so we can check it out.

Bye for now......

Scrap the Girls September Challenge

Happy first day of Spring!!
I just love this time of year, the blossoms are out and the days are getting warmer.  There's a real feel of hope in the air.

It's also time to announce our September Scrap the Girls Challenge.

This month we have a sketch.  I haven't done a sketch in the longest time, I wasn't even sure I remembered how......but I have to say it was so fun. I think I could create heaps of layouts with this sketch, and they'd all look different.

So here it is:

Here's my take on it:

And take a look......I used purple!! Yep purple is my nemesis and a colour I very rarely use. So happy with it.

I had lots of fun with some stamps by AALL & Create. These are just gorgeous.  They are #60 and I got them from my fave place to shop Scrap Matrix.
I stamped them in black and white and then painted on some Dylusions Sprays.

I also added some tags by 7Dots Studio - wouldn't be one of my layouts without them.

I also added some 2Crafty Chipboard. I'm so lucky I get to play with it all.
Had lots of fun colouring it up!

I'm so happy with it, and maybe, just maybe purple is growing on me!

This month our sponsor is Colour Blast.
So grateful that we have such wonderful sponsors.

Why not have a go at playing around with the sketch. It's a really great way to step out of your comfort zone a little.

Head on over to Scrap the Girls to check out the rest of the DT's take on the sketch.  They are all so different. You won't be disappointed!

See you again soon,

Tam

Scrap the Girls August Challenge

Hi everyone

A pinch and a punch for the first of the month!! You all know what that means.... a NEW challenge over at Scrap the Girls.

It's a goodie.....

A gorgeous Moodboard - just love the colours!

Here's what I came up with.....

I was inspired by a few things. Firstly, the colours. Gorgeous!!
Next I was inspired by the zebra print. I used Washi Tape and some gorgeous pieces by Charm's Creations. They fit perfectly with the theme!!
See how my word stickers line up, kinda stacked on top of each other?? This was inspired by the row of stones/pebbles.

I used lots of 2Crafty Chipboard on this one - the title 'Fun Times', the 'Frame Handrawn Hearts' and the 'Tiny ATC Hearts'. I painted them in white gesso and white acrylic paint.  The tiny hearts I left raw as I felt this replicated the fawn colour in the moodboard.

I also used lots of goodies from my favourite online scrappy store - Scrap Matrix!!

I used Dylusions Paints, Pinkfresh Word Stickers, and 7Dots Studio tags and papers.

This month Scrap the Girls is sponsored by Charms Creations.

I just love these little handmade embellishments.  Aussie made and all handmade.
These ones were custom made for this challenge.
How clever is that?

I hope you give this fun challenge a go.....
