Scrap the Girls March Challenge

OK, seriously.....it's March!! WHAT!!

Well as this year flys by (yep I'm starting to sound like my Great Aunties!), and I try to catch my breath, I am excited to share the new challenge over at Scrap the Girls.

Oh this one's a beauty....... as soon as I saw this one, I knew I'd enjoy myself.  I always do when I scrap but every now and then, I get even more excited!!

It's called "Don't Mess with Me", and it's a Colour and Moodboard challenge!

Here's what I came up with:

Lots of leftover strips on this one, and I used heaps of stuff from my stash - some old, some new.

I used lots of 2Crafty Chipboard.  I used the #FUNTIMES title from "Mini #Word Set 2", "Dotty Bits" and a "Polaroid Assorted Frame".

In the clusters I used a "Doodled Flower Outline" Metal Die from Uniquely Creative to create those leaves in both solid black and black and white stripe.

I love how those leaves just work in any cluster.  Magic.

Love how the primary bold colours look together.

This layout features a fun selfie snapped with my gorgeous daughter. Perfect for the theme.

This month we are again sponsored by D-Lish Scraps.

So lucky to have them onboard. They have awesome scrappy embellishments.

I can't wait to see your creations for this month!

You must go check out the rest of the Design Team's creations, you'll be inspired in no time.  Here's the link to the BLOG.

I'll be back again soon.

Happy creating!

My first 2Crafty Share for July!!

Hi everyone, I'm here to share my first layout for 2Crafty Chipboard for July.

We are in the middle of winter here in Australia, and where I live it's freezing!

I always feel a bit flat when it's cold and dreary, so I've created a bright layout, hoping that will offset the cold.......(one can only hope hey).

Colour always makes me feel brighter.

It's titled:

"Brave"

I used the following 2Crafty Chipboard:

'Indian Feathers'
'Soft Feather Set'
'Polaroid Assorted Frames'
'Dreamcatchers'
'Assorted Arrows'
'Brave Title'

I had these photos of my warrior daughter who dressed up for her High School Sports Day.

I love them and I adore feathers -  as you can see I've used a lot!

I used a couple of different techniques on them.

On the 'Indian Feathers' I applied black paint and then rubbed on some of Finnabair's Acrylic Paint in Opal Magic - Aqua Rose.

This is a cool product.

I purchased it on a recent trip to Scrap Matrix.  Vicki has really cool mixed media products - stuff that is hard to get here in Australia. Plus she's one lovely chick.

On lighter backgrounds this product comes out a pinky tone, and on a dark background it's this beautiful teal colour.

It has a beautiful opalescent shine.

To one of the 'Dreamcatchers' and also one of the 'Soft Feathers' I applied white gesso and then stamped a script stamp with black over the top.

I finished off with a bit of ink.

I really love how these turned out.

I painted some of the 'Assorted Arrows' black.

I painted a 'Polaroid Assorted Frame' in green and then stamped a triangle pattern onto this randomly.

To create my title I painted the 'Brave' with black paint and then added the  product
(the same technique as with the 'Indian Feathers').

I added stacks of products from the one and only Kit the Habit.

I really love using one or two of these products on my layouts.

For those who don't know Kit the Habit is the collaboration of ME and Emzascrapper.

We have loads of fun creating and making our very own scrapping products.

On this page I used:

a 'Find your Wild' flair
an acrylic tepee (so cute!)
lots of feathers
metal arrowheads
a Project Life Card
a couple of quotes from our 'Little Bit of Randoms'.

If you want to join our 'Kit the Habit' group for details of releases and just scrappy chit chat go HERE

The final step was to swipe some black paint around the edges of the page, and flick some paint over the layout (don't forget to cover up your photo first!)

I hope you've enjoyed this one.....I had a blast creating it!

I'll be back with more soon!

My first 2Crafty Design Team share!

Hi everyone.....I'm super excited to be over on the 2Crafty blog today.  I'm still pinching myself that I am on their AMAZING Design Team.  Seriously, the inspiration up on that blog is incredible.
Do yorself a favour and go take a look......

So today I share my first two Designs with you.....

My first layout is titled

'Happiness'

This layout is for and about my teenage daughter, so I wanted to use bright colours teamed with black to go with the 'teen' feel.

I used the following 2 Crafty Chipboard:
Triangle Set
Zig Zag Borders
Polaroid Frames
Fine Heart Borders
Line Words - Happiness Borders
Indian Feathers Set

I painted the polaroid frames a number of bright colours that went with the papers I had selected.  I then stamped them randomly with black Staz-on and a small chevron stamp.

I used the same technique on the feathers.
I made sure the stamping was fairly random, I certainly didn't want them to look 'perfect'.

I added a zig zag chevron border, painting it bright pink.

As my layout was very bright, I added black as a contrast to set off the colours.

I painted the fine heart border and a few triangles black.  I turned these on their side to look more like arrows or 'play symbols'.

I painted the word 'happiness' from the line border pack black too.
The black is really grounding against the bright colours, and helps direct the eyes into the page.

I'm really happy with how this layout turned out.
It suits my teenage girl perfectly.

My second layout is titled

'Discover'

and is about a cute little moment I captured between 2 cousins who were meeting for the first time.

For this layout I used the following 2Crafty Chipboard:

Lattice Leaf Set
Mini Branches
Mini Travel Words Set 2
Assorted Arrows
Polaroid Frames
Film Strips Small

I used 'discover' for  my title from the Mini Travel Words Set 2.
I painted it black and then added Dimensional Magic to give it a high gloss/resin finish.

I also did the same with the Assorted Arrows, the lattice leaves and the film strip.

With the mini branches, I coated them in a few coats of white gesso and then stamped over the top using Black Staz-On and a script stamp.
I love how this adds extra texture, and allows me to add more layers.

To bring in some more contrast and texture, I embossed one of the polaroid frames using an aged metal emboss powder.  I love the finish!!

Thanks for popping by, I hope you've found inspiration here today.
I can't wait to share more designs next month.

Much scrappy love,
Tam
