My second 2Crafty Share for June and Guest Designer at CSI

I've popped in today to share my latest 2Crafty Chipboard design, which I created as a Guest Designer over at CSI.

It's titled :

"Summer Days"

I used the following 2Crafty Chipboard on this layout:

"Summer Days Title"
"Crazy Circles"
"Circle Stack"
"6" Revolution Frames"
"Bubble Clumps"

A layout about one of my favourite sights during summer.

Each summer, for a week, we stay at the beach and everyday we do the walk to and from the beach with towels over the shoulder and boogie boards carefully balanced.
I love walking behind and watching my family as they walk and chat, relaxed and happy.
I love seeing the kids grow over the years.

I actually created this one as a Guest Designer over at CSI.

2Crafty Chipboard are sponsoring this month, and I really enjoyed 'solving the case'.

Here's the case:

I loved the colours and went with the Summer Theme.

I added quite a few of the elements listed in the Case.

You can find these listed on the CSI site.

I used a solid white background, checks/grid, stripes, wet medium (paint), tags, thread.
I also followed the Summer Writing Prompts for my journaling and wrote about what Summer 'looks' like as well as adding what Summer 'smells' like.

Here's a closer look at the layout:

I painted some of the circles from the "Circle Stack" in white paint and then added some doodling/stitched lines with a black pen.

I cut some of the circles from the "Crazy Circles" and did the opposite - I painted them black and added white pen stitching doodles.

I tucked these in and around the photos and layers.

I painted a "6" Revolution Frame" white and placed these on top of the centre photo as a way of focusing the eye into the layout.

I also tucked a few of the "Bubble Clumps" in and around the layout.
I painted these black.

For my title "Summer Days" I painted the two words in contrast summer colours.

I applied white gesso first as I wanted the colour to be bright, and then I added ink.

I often do this to my chipboard titles, use a combo of colours.
It just makes the title more interesting.

As you can see I added lots of stamping. In lots of different circles.
I used my favourite stamps available from Scrap Matrix by AALL & Create (Tracy Evans #34) and Paper Artsy.

Well that's about it for today.

I love this happy vibrant layout.

We'd love you to join in over at CSI this month.

I hope I've inspired you in some way today.

My first June 2Crafty Chipboard Share

Good morning!

Today I'm going to share my latest 2 Crafty Chipboard Creation.

This one's titled :

"Crazy About You"

A layout celebrating my love for my gorgeous daughter.

For this layout, I wanted to challenge myself.
I am scared of purple!! It's my nemesis, my kryptonite. I struggle to use it.
Now before all you purple lovers get angry with me, let me explain.

For those who know my creative work, you will know I'm a huge COLOUR fan - the brighter, the better. BUT I tend to steer clear of purple. Lately I noticed that I had hardly any purple in my stash, so I recently purchased my 'go to' colour products in purple - Dylusions Ink Spray and Dylusions Paint.

Right, time to get over my fear, time to dive in, time to fall in love with purple!

But first let's start with the 2 Crafty Chipboard pieces used on this layout:

"Ava's Frame"
"Lattice Leaves"
"Crazy About You Title"
"Moroccan Bits"
"Starbright Snowflakes"

So I began coating the "Moroccan Bits" in white gesso and then added a few random sprays of Dylusions Ink Spray in 'Crushed Grape'.

I wanted this to have an ombre kind of effect, I didn't want it to be just one colour.

I placed these onto my background.

I then applied white gesso to "Ava's Frame" and added this to my page so that it circled my photos. I love how the flourish sits - it provided the perfect spot for me to add some clusters of flowers.

I also applied white gesso to the "Starbright Snowflakes". Once dry, I added clear Kindy Glitz for a gorgeous subtle glittering shimmer.
I haven't used this stuff in years, it looks perfect on the snowflakes - kinda looks like snow. So magical.

My daughter loves Winter and Snowflakes so these were just perfect to pop on the layout.

Some I snipped in half and adhered so they looked like they were trailing off the page.
Some I added into the clusters.

The glitter is so subtle, I hope it shows up on the camera.....

I painted the "Crazy About You Title" in black paint as I really wanted to add a strong contrast to the softer feel of the layout.

I then applied Dimensional Magic, which gives a beautiful glossy resin like finish.

I also added some black paint to the "Lattice Leaves" and poked these into the cluster of flowers.

So there you have it.....my first play with Purple. I think I did ok.
I'm really hoping we can be friends, in fact, I really hope we can be more than friends!!
Purple, I would love to LOVE YOU!

What have you done lately in your creating that challenged you and pushed you out of your comfort zone?
I'd love you to share that with me.

I'm making my POINT at Scrap Matrix......

Hi there Scrap Matrix creatives!

I'm back to share my second creation for the current 'What's the Point' Challenge over at Scrap Matrix.

My last creation was all about my girl, so I thought I'd create a boyish one this time.
All things pointy go so well with boys = Stars, Chevron, triangles, arrows......

So let's have a look at how this page came together....

I began with some black cardstock and a 7Dots Paper.

I then added some Dylusions Paint in my favourite colour 'Polished Jade'.
I simply swiped it over my page with an old store card.
I focused the paint towards the bottom of the layout....where I wanted my photos to be.

I then added some arrows using a Paper Artsy Stamp. LOVE IT!
On the patterned paper I used black ink and on the black cardstocks I used a thin layer of white paint.

I then used a Tim Holtz Stencil and a couple of pens to trace some Chevrons onto my paper.
I love the whimsical look of this.

Using a stencil is soooo  much easier than drawing freehand, and my lines are much straighter! Lol!

I then grabbed out some of the papers I created about a month ago using my NEWEST toy, my Gelli Plate
I love this so much!

From these I randomly tore off strips, made tags, punched stars and cut out triangles.
I added the strips and tags in layers behind my photos.

I gathered my various sized triangles and drew a border with pen.
I also added in some triangles cut from the Pinkfresh Escape the Ordinary paper.

I then layered these onto my layout.

You can see I also added some gauze, spritzed with Dylusions Ink Spray in Lemon Zest.

I love the different texture this gives, and how I LOVE the vibrant colour!

You can see I added Mixed Media Tape by Dina Wakley - I used the chevron and cut it into smaller sections.

I also punched some stars from the papers I had created using the Gelli Plate, plus I cut
out some chevron shapes from the Heidi Swapp Mixed Media pack and added these to my layout too.

Lots of dimension and layers.

The final step is always a few flicks of Dylusions paint, just to tie it altogether.

Oh wait! I forgot the title.

A fun sticker by Me and My Big Ideas.

So are you gonna have a go at our 'What's the Point' Challenge?
I sure hope so!

There's still plenty of time.....all you need to do is create something (a layout, a canvas, a few cards or tags, a journal page) and use triangles, stars, arrows, chevrons, diamonds. And/or you could make it about your "point" of view... or even your pointy nose, or the top of a mountain.
Use your creativity and imagination, along with the moodboard to make your point!

Just add it to the Scrap Matrix Shares page in the corresponding folder and don't forget to let us know what Scrap Matrix products you used, and what inspired you... to be in the running for a $30 gift voucher - and maybe a Guest DT spot in a couple of months!

Well that's it from me today.
I'll see you over on the Shares group, and look forward to checking out your creative projects!

Scrap the Girls June Challenge

Hello there, well it's officially the first of June today.....Winter is upon us.

The mornings and evenings are chilly, and we're hanging on to the last few rays of sunshine.  Perfect scrapping weather.

Maybe you'll join in with the new challenge over at Scrap the Girls.

Here it is.....

It's all about friendship as we celebrate International Best Friend Day on the 8th of June.

Here's my page about my best friend and I.....

I used loads of goodies from Scrap Matrix on this one.

Papers and embellishments by 7Dots in the 'Paint Chips' Range....I just love this range, my favourite of theirs.  The colours are wonderful!

I also used some Media Tape by Dina Wakley, a gorgeous new stamp by AALL & CREATE, and some Mesh Tape too.

I also used loads of 2Crafty Chipboard......'The Best of Friends Title' (perfect!), 'Gigi Flowers' and 'Spring Flower Bunches'.

Here's a few close ups......

My favourite colour is green, and my best friend's favourite is Blue, so I used these two colours together to create this layout.

The purple helped it to 'pop'.

The sponsor this month is Flutterby Designs, an awesome Aussie company creating unique and 'real' products full of life and colour.  Do yourself a favour and check them out.

Just link up your creation about friendship to either our Blog or on Facebook.  Don't forget it must be all about GIRLS!
You can see the other Design Teams awesome creations on the Blog too.

I'll be back again soon with more inspiration.

Until then much friendship to you all.
