Another creation using Uniquely Creative Dies

I'm back today to share another creation using the awesome Metal Dies I recently received in the mail from Uniquely Creative.

This time I worked with the Heart Doily Frame.

Here's what I came up with....

I just love the vibrant colours mixed with the black and white.

I love how these Dies cut so cleanly.
The cuts pull away from the metal die really easily.

I also love how with this die, you get the heart frame, and also the little hearts within the frame pop out and can be used on your projects too.

They look a bit like sequins, and I love that they are different sizes.

I used some of the frames in their entirety, and others I chopped up and added bits and pieces here and there.

I again used some goodies from Scrap Matrix, including Dylusions Sprays, 7Dots Word Stickers, 7 Dots tags, 7 Dots Stamps, and some 13 Arts Clear Stickers.

So happy with this layout, and capturing the moment between my son and our Maisy.

Love the colours, and love the way those frames look in black against the colours.

I really can recommend these Metal Dies by Uniquely Creative.

Designing with Uniquely Creative Dies

So recently I received some awesome goodies in the mail!! 3 Dies from Uniquely Creative.

I couldn't wait to get creating...I haven't dug my Cuttlebug out for ages!!
I just love reinventing, and falling in love with things all over again.
I must remember to leave my Cuttlebug out on desk, and NOT put it away.....I'm a real out of sight, out of mind person.

So here's one of the Dies I received.......

Now you know why I was so keen to play. Simply stunning.  I adore silhouette roses.

Plus they cut beautifully!  I was a little worried, as the Dies say on the back to use a metal shim plate which I actually don't have, but when I gave it a whirl, they came out so cleanly.

So here's what I created with the first Die - the Rose and leaves.

Aaaaah that colour!
I adore pink and yellow together, and as this layout was about myself and one of my closest and oldest friends, it was perfect - happy and girly.

For those of you who know my work, you know I love colour!! And I absolutely LOVE it paired with black and white.

Don't those roses look amazing in the black, just stunning.

I also cut a few in a black and white stripe paper, just to mix it up a little.

I added some 2Crafty Chipboard, which I coloured using Distress Ink.
Lovin that two tone effect on the title.

I used quite a few goodies from Scrap Matrix, my favourite store for my crafty supplies (German Scrap, Dylusions Sprays, 13 Arts Stickers).

So happy with this layout.
A celebration of a special friendship, and my beautiful Kel.

I really recommend those Die Cuts.  For information on stockists go HERE

I can't wait to play again soon.

My first Watercolour and Words Share for Scrap Matrix

Hi all

I am here today to share my creation for the 'Watercolour and Words Challenge' over at Scrap Matrix.

If you haven't seen the challenge.....here it is....

So create a project using watercolours and words.

They happen to be two of my favourite things!! (yes I'm singing!!)

I got to work with the gorgeous Prima Watercolours in 'Tropical'.
I'd been wanting to try these out for ages, so was thrilled when they arrived.
The colours in Tropical are strong and vibrant, so just perfect for me.

So here's what I came up with:

Love love love the bright vibrant colours, mixed with the black and the white.

I painted those black stripes on. Simple and instant background.
I've done this a few times now and just love the effect.

In fact I've created a video of me creating this page.....so you can see EXACTLY how it was done (see further down)

I used a variety of words.
Some 7Dots Stickers (love these) and the new 13Arts Words stickers.
I love that these are clear so they work really well on photos.
I also used the Heidi Swapp epoxy words.

I had a whole heap of fun with Dina Wakley Abstract Blooms Stamps
I added watercolour to some of  these too.

You can watch that on the video.

This layout celebrates a surprise 16th birthday party that my daughter's friends organised for her.
It was such a sweet thing to do, and this photo captures the moment she walked in.
I just love the emotion, and knew I needed to scrap it.

I also knew that I needed it to be bright and funky to go not only with the happy celebratory occasion, but also with the 'teenage' theme.

Those metal flowers painted black, alongside the stamped flowers are just perfect for this.

So without further ado, here's the video so you can watch EXACTLY how I created it.

So there you have it!

I'm very NEW to this video thing, so I'd love to know what your think of the video.....leave a comment and let me know.
I even have a you tube channel you can subscribe to HERE

I can't wait to see what you create for this challenge!
Vicki is offering a store voucher to Scrap Matrix, so I urge you to have a go.....at the very least you will have had fun creating!!

Remember to use watercolour and words and at least one product available from Scrap Matrix.  Obviously the more the better......and there's so many to choose from!

My second 2Crafty Chipboard Share for October

I'm here to share my second creation this month for 2Crafty Chipboard.

It's titled:

'Magic Happens'

This layout is a fun one celebrating meeting the characters at Disneyland.

I used the following 2Crafty Chipboard:

'Magic Happens Title'
'Stars'
'ATC Tiny Hearts & Stars'
'Circular Panel'

I used white gesso and Dylusions Sprays to create the background.  These are available from Scrap Matrix.
I went with the teals and limes that are dominant in Goofy's suit.

I then painted some of the 'Stars' and some of the tiny stars from the 'ATC Tiny Hearts & Stars' in a deep purple Dylusions paint.
I like how this purple contrasts against the teal and lime.

I stamped them very randomly with some black archival ink to make them look a little more grungy.

I painted the 'Magic Happens title' in black gesso.

I then went over the top of this, just on the 'Magic', with Clear Kindy Glitz.
I haven't used this product in years!!
It was fun to get it out and play with it again.

I love how the clear Kindy Glitz turns this gorgeous teal colour when applied to black.

I repeated the same process with the 'Circular Panel' and poked these randomly around my photos.

I wanted this layout to be fun to complement the story about 'goofying around' with Goofy at Disneyland.

I think the glitter finish really adds to the fun magical vibe.

It really is a gorgeous finish.

That's it for today, I'll be back real soon.

My first 2Crafty Chipboard October share.....includes a VIDEO TUTORIAL

Today I'm sharing with you a recent creation I created  for 2Crafty Chipboard.

It's titled:

'Loving these Moments'

It's a layout that celebrates my brother and his son.

I used the following 2Crafty Chipboard on this layout:

'Loving these Moments title'
'Chicken Barbed Wire - Small'
'Steampunk Gears - Small'
'Steampunk Gears - Medium'
'Chain Circle Frames'

I cut down the 'Chicken Wire Panel - small' and smeared Finnabair's Rust Paste in Gold, Brown and Red randomly over it.  I just used my fingers.
I love the rust look and the texture this creates.
These products are available from Scrap Matrix.

I then added some Silks Acrylic Glaze Paint in 'Ocean Wave'.
I love how this blue colour matches the blue in my photo so well.
Also available at Scrap Matrix.

I repeated this process on the 'Steampunk Gears - Small' and the 'Steampunk Gears - Medium'.

I just love the rusty finish, especially with that metallic blue added in!

I used some of the 'negative' part of the chipboard from the 'Chain Circle Frames'.
I added it to the background, and painted it in black gesso for a bit of contrast.

Don't forget to look at the leftover bits from your chippy - they can be awesome!
They also make great stencils.

Can you tell I don't like to throw anything away?

I also applied black gesso to the 'Loving these Moments title'.

I just love the clusters and dimension that the chipboard gives my layout.

I love how many different options you have with chipboard - you can create so many different finishes and so many different looks.

Don't these look just like metal?

My paper is from 7Dots Hazy Days collection and I've used lots of 7Dots tags behind my photo and word stickers  (I just love these!!)  Again these are all available from Scrap Matrix.

I created a video tutorial so you can see how I created this page:

I hope you enjoy the video.

I'm still a newbie and creating them, but getting better.

Did you spy my gorgeous cat Maisy on my desk?

She's always in my creative space with me. Usually just off camera. But today she wanted to be totally in it.  Cute, you will notice her move a few times!

I'll be back soon with my next share.

Second share for Scrap Matrix!

Hi everyone!

I'm back to share my second layout for Scrap Matrix.

I again took my inspiration from the Moodboard Challenge we have happening this month.  Please note our months run from the 15th of each month, so you actually have to the 14th of October to pop your entry up on the Scrap Matrix Shares Facebook Page.  If you go to 'Albums' you will find where to pop your photo.

A reminder of this month's challenge:

It's all about our crafting, our happy spaces.

My last creation was all about my creative space, you can find the link HERE.

So this time I thought I'd draw inspiration directly from the moodboard. That gorgeous painted rainbow heart just jumped out at me so I went with that as my starting point.

So here it is:

Oh it was so fun!!!

Look at all that colour - paint and colour make me so happy.
Recently I have dappled in a little bit of painting and I'm just loving it.  It brings me joy and I find it really relaxing.  So I thought I'd document that.

I began by applying clear gesso to cardstock.

I then got out my NEW Prima Watercolours in Tropical and went  to town blending them onto the background of my paper in a heartish shape.  I really wanted this heart to be messy and a bit random.

I then used some of my Dina Wakley Heavy Body Acrylic Paints.  I just love these!  The colours are awesome, plus they come in these little squeeze bottles that allows me to 'draw' with the nib directly onto my page.  I did this with the black paint.  I just love how this turned out.  As they are 'heavy body' paints they are perfect for this.

I also love that I can squeeze a little out, add a bit of water and then use flick it over my page.

So easy, and it really prevents wastage!

I then stamped some paint splatters onto the layout using the 7Dots 'Hazy Days' Stamp.

So much messy fun!!

Whilst this was drying, I began working on the layers behind my photo.
I added some torn bits of paper and then tucked a tag and some word stickers around the photo.

I added in some gorgeous Metal Flowers, which I coated with black gesso. I love how this gave the flowers a more modern feel.

I found the perfect charm - an artist pallete and brush - I added some pink paint to this - I just wiped over it using my fingers.

I also added in some mini flowers.  They were originally white, so I spritzed them with my Dylusions Sprays to colour them up.
I then added some bling to the centre.

I added the word 'happy' to my layout - I love these Heidi Swapp Buzz Words.

Finally I added some thread behind my photos, and popped my cluster on top of this, making sure some thread was still peeking out.

I love it!!

Happy is right!

Don't forget to head on over to the Facebook group to enter.

This is our first ever challenge and we'd just love you to have a go.  Vicki is offering a voucher to her store, so what have you got to lose?  I can't wait to see your entries.

That's it from me today, hope this layout has brightened your day.

Scrap the Girls October Challenge

Good morning everyone

I'm here to share the new challenge for Scrap the Girls.

This one's a beauty and works perfectly with all your girly pictures.

Yep draw inspirations from this moodboard.

Now I'm not a pinky person, but as it's teamed with black and white I knew I was all set!

Here's what I came up with:

A photo taken recently at my daughter's 16th birthday.

Her and her gorgeous friends.

Definitely a photo to scrap.

I used a subtle pink on my background and then added in stronger highlights of pink.

I used a 2Crafty Chipboard 'gorgeous'  title and Doily Frames, which I painted in black.

I added in some metals from Scrap Matrix.  This place seriously has the best metals and they are a bargain price!  You can shop for them HERE.

Most of them come in a brassy vintage colour, but I wanted them to be a bit funkier, so I applied white gesso and black gesso to them.  Love the way they turned out!

The 7Dots Tags came from Scrap Matrix too.

I also added lots of Kit the Habit goodies.

There's some die cut feathers, some acetate 'play' shapes, and that quote is from our 'Little Bit of Randoms'.  It works perfectly for this story.  I think the 'Randoms' are my favourite Kit the Habit item!
Although really it's like choosing a favourite child - it's not possible and it changes depending on the day!

This month's sponsor is the delightful Janet from Resin Rainbow.  Her stuff is so cool.  You can check it out on her Etsy Store HERE.

I can't wait to see all your entries this month, so don't forget to link up on our BLOG.  Whilst you are there, do yourself a favour and check out all the inspiration from the other Design Team Members.  They've totally nailed this challenge.

See you soon
