D-Lish Scraps July Mood board Challenge

Nothing like scraping/scrapping in at the last second!!

This month I ordered my first ever 'Just Add Paper' Kit from D-Lish Scraps. I've often missed out - all sold before I got the chance to order.  So I was excited to get this in the mail.  And it's gorgeous! For only $10 its a great buy.  So I decided to enter the Mood board challenge that goes along with it.  It's just beautiful.....here it is:

Just love the colours!! And the chevron, the stars and the arrows - all my favourites rolled into one.  So with just a few hours left until the midnight cut off.....here's my entry:

Having the 'Just Add Paper' Kit made it really easy, and I have heaps left for some other layouts.  This page came together really quickly - well except for the part where I decided to open the star shaker in the kit and individually glue on all the tiny star sequins inside!!! Note to self - they are actually smaller than they appear - next time re-think this idea!!

Here's a close up:

I'll definitely be ordering more of these kits and having a go at the co-ordinating mood board again.  If you want to check out all the details of this challenge go HERE.

Thanks Amanda and all at D-Lish Scraps!

Beach Layout

This layout was one of those that come out of a big whoopsie!

I had quickly grabbed some Distress Ink, pulled off the top, and was ready to start splodging on the page with the sponge tip....but what I didn't notice was that the entire lid had come off, and paint poured onto my cardstock - a pretty big blob.  Aaargh!  I quickly grabbed a scrapey thing (aka an old credit card) and smeared the paint around a little.  And I loved the results!
I impatiently waited for it to dry because suddenly I had a total new plan for the layout.  I loved the new direction it took me in.
So don't ever think that you have 'stuffed' your layout.....often my favourite layouts come from 'fixing' mistakes - it pushes me out of my comfort zone!  In this instance I think I may just have discovered a new technique, that knowing me I will probably do to death on my layouts.....haha

Here's the result

And a close up.....

I love the photo, taken of my beautiful girl on a recent trip with special friends to Carrickalinga.  Really beautiful beaches down that way, and we have a wonderful couple of days relaxing and unwinding.   .

Kraft Plus Challenge - July

Just popping in to share my layout for the July Kraft Plus Challenge.
This is one of my favourite challenge sites.....the design team's awesome and they have such diversity in their challenges.

This month the challenge is as follows:  Use this photo as your inspiration plus yellow paint

So this challenge should be right up my alley......I love yellow.....but as I sat down to create, what was in my head didn't transfer to the page.
This often happens, and I usually go off on a completely different tangent, which results in a page that I'm surprisingly happy with....but today wasn't one of those days....I didn't love it....I didn't know how to fix it....so I decided to just walk away....leave it, still enter and accept that not every layout can be a favourite.
Here it is...............

 Better luck next month right?

Scrap the Girls Challenge

This is the first time I have gone in the Scrap the Girls Monthly Challenge....

I struggle with 'girly' pages - it's quite rare that flowers make it onto my pages.....this is one of the reasons I wanted to have a go at this challenge.
The other reason?  It's a sketch.  I love sketches.....and this one is pretty cool.
Here it is...

This one came together really quickly, one of the fastest layouts I've done for a long time - and I'm really happy with it....isn't it funny how that works......pages I take my time with and procrastinate over often result in disappointment, however, pages that just seem to click and come together really quickly are often my favourites....
So without further ado......

And here's a close up:

This page is about myself and my friend Sandy.  We both had the amazing experience of being 'newbies' at the awesome 'Escape 2 Create' Retreat in Port Lincoln.  We shared a table, a dorm room, and so much more...we really hit it off immediately.....you know when you meet someone and you just know that you will be more than acquaintances, that you will keep in contact....well that's how it was when I met Sandy.....I'm so grateful to have met her and to have shared this experience.

I FINALLY SCRAPPED!!!

Yes everyone, hold onto your hats, I actually scrapped!  It's been a while.....sometimes life just takes over.  With school holidays and then back to school stuff, it's been a little tricky to squeeze some 'me' time in.  And boy did I need it!

So yesterday I made the time and I scrapped 3 layouts!! Woohoo!! Go me!

I'll start with sharing one today and I'll share the rest over the next few days..... (mainly cause I'm itching to get back in my scrap room and not photograph and blog!)

This one is a photo I took last weekend.  We went to visit my step-dad and my favourite uncle was there too.  I snapped this shot of him and my boy and I love it.

I love how it turned out. It's a bit crooked but that's my photography, not the layout.  I love the metal/boyish feel with the splashes of red. I enjoyed getting a bit grungy with the stamping, and I loved adding those Micro Beads......although I think there's as many on my floor as on my page!

Here's a bit of a close up

Well I'll be back soon to share some more.....

Deer and Fawn Designs Project Life Spread

Well I'm pleased to share another Project Life spread with you all.  I'm loving how quickly I've been churning them out lately!!

This week included Mothers Day.  I got some beautiful cards/letters from my kids for Mothers day, and these are definitely the things I want to keep forever, so putting them into my Project Life Album is a perfect solution.  I use sleeves from a 6x8 Album - I like that they are a different size and create a point of interest.  I also do this to keep the kids school reports and any notes or things I want to remember that don't fit in the standard pockets.
It's lovely to flip through my albums and come across these little memories.

The left hand side:

The right hand side:
You will notice that I have tucked a letter from my daughter into one of the pockets. I often do this too, I like to include things with my kids writing on them, little pictures etc.

And here's the added insert which contains the cards from the kids:

And that's it....another week caught up on....only 6 more to go!!

Another Project Life Spread for Deer and Fawn Designs

Hi everyone.
Thought I'd quickly pop in with another Project Life Spread, and bring you some inspiration for the upcoming weekend.

The left side:

And the right:

This week was a big one - lots on, and as a result I had excess photos - too many!  When this happens I like to make a little flip style pocket. It's really easy to do and allows me to add in all my photos.  I just stick some photos back to back (ensuring the back one is upside down, so that when the flap lifts, its the right way up), and then attach to the project life card using a strip of washi on both the outside and the inside.  So quick!  An instant 'lift the flap'.  For this trick to work, you need to use a pocket that opens from either the top (like in my photo below) or from the side.

The top photo flap then sits on the outside of your plastic pocket, and can be lifted and read without needing to remove anything from the sleeve.  Very handy!
Why not give it a try?

Happy creating!!
