Powerful blooms for Scrap Matrix

Today I've popped in to share some art journal pages with you created for Scrap Matrix.

Lots of fun using the new Tracy Scott PaperArtsy Paint colours.

So let's take a look at how this came to be....

Swipe some of the Electric Violet Paint onto your art journal page.
Be random!

Add some Aqua Duck Egg, and then add a touch of 'Little Black Dress' and 'Snowflake', then whilst still wet add the '12x12 Blooming Garden' Stencil by The Crafter's Workshop, and using a baby wipe, rub off paint through this.

Repeat until you are happy with your background.

I then came in with my pencil, and roughly sketched a face...

Now grab some smooth cardstock....I used the NEW PaperArtsy Smooth.
I LOVE IT!

With a sponge, apply paint through the stencil by The Crafters Workshop called '12x12 Blooming Garden'.
I used PaperArtsy Paint in 'Cerulean', 'Cerise', 'Electric violet' and 'Purple Wine'.

Repeat, blending the colours.

I also added in some stamping using the Prima Stamp - Bloom Floral.

I also repeated this process on black cardstock.
The same process, the same colours.
Love this effect!!

Now time to cut them all out.

Time to paint in that face...

Now start adding your flowers.

I added some doodling - on her face, on the leaves and I also added a touch of colour to the black and white stamped flowers

.

Ok, onto the next creation....

I used my fave quick technique, as I was keen to try out a couple of the NEW Tracy Stencils I got at the Scrap Matrix weekend!

I created this one with the new Tracy Scott PaperArtsy colours.....
'Electric Violet', 'Purple Wine', 'Aqua Duck Egg' and 'Cerulean'.

Love that new Tracy stencil - PS157

I dedicate this page to the fun weekend that I was lucky enough to spend with both Tracy and Vicki - we shared many a laugh and many a wine, so this quote from the Word stickers seems very appropriate.

I also created another page.....

For this one I used the NEW stencil PS089
and the following Tracy Scott PaperArtsy paints
Prawn, Jade, Butternut and Zesty Zing.....

After coating the page in white gesso, I then added some of the Prawn and Butternut paint along the top edge of the page.
I then added water and let it drip down.

Love the mess!!

Then with a dry baby wipe, I rubbed paint through the stencil, ensuring I changed colours to get a variegated look...

Now its time to come in with a black pen and a white pen, and add some rough scribbles....

The final step is to add a few flicks of paint and then swipe black paint around the edges and finish off with a quote...

Love those quotes.

Well that's it from me,
I so enjoyed this month's challenge.
I adore colour and blooms!!!

Don't forget to add your entries to the Powerful Blooms album over at the Scrap Matrix Shares Facebook page.

Have a blooming wonderful month!!

2Crafty Chipboard is designing for CSI

Hi there,
I'm here today to share my latest for 2Crafty Chipboard.....

A layout documenting my daughter and her study habits.....
I wanted to capture and remember this as she will be moving out in the near future, and it will be these everyday moments that I will miss the most.

I used the following 2Crafty Chipboard....
"everyday title"
"Light bulb word set 1"
"NEW Scribble Circles"
"Dotty Bits"

This month 2Crafty are sponsors over at CSI and this is for their current case #300.
I always enjoy solving their cases.

Let's take a look at it....

You will find all of the clues over on the Challenge Site HERE
I love using as much as possible from the list.

I used the following:
I love that colour scheme - black, white, powder blue, fuschia and orange. I also used polka dots, labels, fussy cutting, flowers (I combined the two), text pattern (on strip and in background of flowers), plus signs, light bulb, notebook paper, computer (in photos), brush font, spiral punch, clips.
My journaling was written on labels and I documented a workspace.
Phew!!
Fun though.

So let's take a closer look at the chipboard....

I painted some of the NEW Scribble Circles in a fuschia colour and scattered these across the page, tucking them underneath things.
I purposely went from the top left to bottom right corner, and ALWAYS make sure at least one of the circles are half off the page.  This helps create movement and guides the eyes into the layout.

I painted some of the Dotty Bits and tucked these amongst the vertical strips - this made them look a bit like scallops.

I added both the pink and the orange to my everyday title for a gorgeous ombre effect.
I really love doing this with my titles and chipboard.

Finally, I painted one of the light bulbs in a soft blue.
I positioned it near my daughter's head to represent 'ideas'.

I'll pop back later in the month with some more chippy inspiration.

Art Journal page for Scrap Matrix....blooming beautiful

Hi everyone
Popped in to share my first creation for the 'Powerful Blooms' Challenge over at Scrap Matrix.

A double page in my large Dylusions Journal.

This drippy rainbow colour is a technique I use often and it never fails to look fabbo.

Let's take a look at it....

Firstly..... oh look there's my Maisy....she's always in my happy place with me.
I paint her often.....she seems to like it.
Sorry, always distracted by kitties. Right back to business...
I added a coat of white gesso to my pages.  As I add lots of water, this helps protect the work on the other sides and I love the white background, rather than the creamy colour.
To be honest, it I was adding colour to the entire background I wouldn't worry about gesso, but I much prefer to see white in my white space.
After all, it's not called cream space. lol

Once dry I add blobs of colours along the top of the page.

They can be pretty messy.
I used the following Paper Artsy Colours -
Red Lipstick, Banana, Cerulean, Bubblegum, Lavender.

I then worked with just one colour at a time, beginning with red.
I added more paint to the blobs, then stood up the journal and sprayed the red paint with lots of water.
I love watching it drip down and decide where its little trickles of colour will go.
It's quite mesmerising. (So much so, I forgot to take a photo).
Let dry completely before moving onto the next colour.
If you don't allow it to dry, the trickles of colour will find each other and turn to mud!!!!

Repeat until all colours are done.
Then cover all up with paper towels except one colour, and add lots of flicks.
Allow each to dry again, before moving to the next colour and continue to flick.

Such a fun process...really makes me lose all sense of everything.
Those colour trickles really get me.
Hence, no photos of the stages AGAIN. Whoops.

I also painted blocks of each colour onto the NEW smooth Paper Artsy Cardstock, ready for stamping.

I then gathered up all my favourite flower stamps.......yep mostly Tracy Scott but a Dina Wakley thrown in there for good measure.

Go crazy stamping.....you might notice that  I overlapped some of my stamping so that some of the flowers are half and half of each colour.

Time to pop yourself in front of the television and cut out all your stamped images.

I decided to stamp out some leaves too, just to break up some of the florals.

So now it's time to cluster the florals on top of the co-ordinating patches of colour.

I also added lots of scribbles/doodling with white pen.
Something I learnt from the Tracy weekend.....

I let some of the flowers cascade down the page.
This is where I added the stamped leaves.
I also added a quote from one of the Tracy Scott stamps.
I love this quote, but it was specifically about sunflowers, so I kinda cut and pasted until it suited my page.

Such a glorious rainbow of powerful blooms.

I hope you enter our challenge this month.
So much you can create for Powerful Blooms.
Just add your entry, whether it be a journal page, scrapbook layout, a couple of cards or even an off the page project to our Shares Page on Facebook. Don't forget to let us know what Scrap Matrix products you used.

I'll see you again a bit later in the month with more inspiration.....
