A winning month!!

What a month!!
I've made the Scrap the Girls Design Team, been published in a national Scrapbook Magazine, and won a few challenges!  Wohoo!!

Firstly I won over at D-Lish with this layout:

And I won over at Kraft Plus........the zentangle challenge!!! Wow!!  Here it is......

And over at Scrap the Girls with this one....

Also don't forget to pop over to the Scrap the Girls blog to see some awesome inspiration and also who else made the Design Team!! I'm totally thrilled to be selected amongst such amazing artists!

So I'm feeling so grateful and humbled to be selected amongst the amazing talent that is out there!  I really love having a go at challenges as it pushes my creativity and makes me try different colour combos, etc.  And most of all.....it gets me scrapping....sometimes I need the gentle push of a challenge to make it happen......otherwise I get distracted by everything else.  So just having a go is the real reward.....getting selected as a winner is an absolute bonus!!

I'm in print!!

I was excited to get this month's edition of Scrapbooking Memories, because one of my layouts is printed in there!!
Yay!!

It's weird when a magazine you have bought and hoarded and read and re-read, and dog eared many a page features some of your work!! Thrilling but weird.
I'm flattered to be published alongside so many great talents.....there are some very talented artists out there......Australia has some of the best.
And look I'm on the same page as the super talented Beck Beattie!!

This is a layout I created at the wonderful Escape 2 Create retreat in Port Lincoln!!  It features me and my dear friend and partner in crime, the fabulous Emma Zappone! (and now we are models too!) Lol.  As I was saying, this one was created at E2C at about 2 in the morning, and after a couple of glasses of wine! Hmmm might need to do some more middle of the night scrapping!!

I'll be back soon!

Announcing Deer and Fawn's September Challenge!!

I am thrilled to release the challenge for this month over at Deer and Fawn Designs

This month's sponsor is the lovely Jodi at Corbett Creations.  She makes the most amazing Wood Veneers, and she is donating a prize this month (thanks Jodi)

As it's officially the first day of SPRING! (yay, finally), and this makes me and I'm sure you very HAPPY, so let's create a monochromatic creation using ORANGE (as this is bright and happy)! You can team it with black and/or white.  You can use any shade or different shades of orange that you like.

I love orange and I love that this challenge can be 'girly' or 'blokey'.  It suits anything. In my case, 'catty'.   Yes I have a black cat so decided to scrap a layout of her.  I went with a black polka dot background, and smeared a bit of gesso around.  I then stamped a little and added a few layers in orange.  It came together really quickly, and here it is:

Here's a close up:

I really hope you join in this month. We love seeing what you do with the challenges.  It doesn't have to be a layout - it could be a card, a mini-book, a journal page - whatever!
Don't forget to link up when you have completed your entry.

Happy SPRING!!

Scrap the Girls September Challenge Reveal!!

Hi everyone
The new September challenge is here for Scrap the Girls!!  This is my first month on the Design Team (yep insert happy dance) and I couldn't wait to have a go at their awesome sketch.

Isn't it gorgeous?!?!?
Here's my interpretation of the sketch.....

And here's a close up....

You'll notice that I used string and a few embellishments in place of the flowers.....I'm not a 'big' user of flowers.  I love them, but tend to use them minimally.  So this sketch was a perfect opportunity to change it up.....and put my spin on it.

I really enjoyed doing the paint drips/splodges.  I created the 'string circle' by dipping string in mod podge, and then winding it around a champers bottle, to let dry.  The string then tends to keep it shape once dry and is much easier to add to your layouts. And it gives you the perfect opportunity to crack a bottle open (hehe). I'm happy with the bright colours in this layout - I think it pops against the black and white background paper.

Do yourself a favour and head on over to the Scrap the Girls Blog and check out the rest of the Design Team's interpretation of the challenge......believe me they will blow you away!
