Sounds fun to me......great combination.
August Recipe Challenge

So here's my entry:

A bit different for me......not often that I use browns, but I wanted to go with the exploring theme.  I was a little unsure using my mists to watercolour.....but once I got into it....I kinda couldn't stop!

White with 1 August Challenge

Just sneaking in with a layout I finally finished over the weekend!
I'd started it a couple of weeks ago, and if I remember correctly, I was waiting for the background to dry, so I went and popped a load of washing on.....and then never found time to get back to it!!

The current challenge over at White.....with 1 is Custard:

custard

And here's my take on it........

I enjoyed this one, I really like monochromatic pages....I tend to do more sticking down and less shuffling - I guess I work better with less options!!  And I loved the yellow.....makes me happy and makes me crave spring.......I am really over this winter, and just want it to hurry up!!

Off the Rails August Challenge

I really loved the challenge over at Off the Rails this month.  Great sketch (I love sketches!) and I LOVE the colours.........

Here's my take on it....

And a bit of a close up:

I took inspiration from the sketch, the colours, the woodgrain and the blue heart.

This page includes 2 selfies taken with my gorgeous son.  They were taken last year, we were about to leave for a family holiday, and whilst waiting to board our plane and in all our excitement, these happened.  I love the memory and I love how photos can transport you straight back to that moment!

If you want to find out more about the current challenge, go HERE

Thanks for popping in.

Happy scrapping!

Scrap the Boys August Challenge

I got to have a play on the weekend with a few challenges.  Scrap the Boys caught my eye straight away, because it was about scrapping a photo of yourself with your boy. Being a mum is my biggest joy...my kids are my world. So I couldn't wait to do this one.
Here's the inspiration:

I had fun painting random black paint on the background, and I stuck with black and white against the blue background.  I love the poem and really wanted to include it....so I wrote it out around the edges of my layout.
Here tis:

And here's a close up:

I hope you're making the time for creative play.

Scrap the Girls August Challenge

This month's mood board challenge over at Scrap the Girls is so pretty......

I love the navy and coral, and the splashes of gold!!  I took my inspiration from the colours, the flowers, the splashes of gold and the string around the Mason Jars.
Here's my take on it:

This layout is one of my favourite photos of my stunning daughter.  It was a selfie that she took herself, and I love everything about it.  It captures the beautiful woman she is becoming.
I'm really happy with this layout, it's become one of my favourites.....I really love that about the challenges - it forces me to put together different colours/techniques, and often I'm thrilled at the results and the way it pushes me creatively.

K+ August Challenge

Hello everyone.
This month's challenge over at Kraft Plus is AWESOME!!!  This is it:

So cool.....zentangling......it's something I've wanted to try, but haven't.....nothing like a challenge to make you give things a go.
As soon as I saw this challenge, I thought of someone I met recently, at my Escape 2 Create adventure.......Marilyn.....she touched my heart in a powerful way.  She is full of light, even though she is tackling some pretty big challenges and I was lucky to share a table and room with her.  Whilst at Escape 2 Create, she was working on a pretty cool project - A Zentangle Pineapple...so whenever I see anything zentangly she pops into my thoughts. I went with a 'dream catcher' inspired layout, and had a lovely time doodling those feathers.
Here it is:

Thanks again K+ for another fun challenge, which certainly pushes me to try something new.  You can check out the challenge and the design teams inspiration HERE

Forgotten layout - scrapping at the beach

I found this layout the other day......had forgotten all about it.
We'd been on a fabulous weekend away with special friends at Carrickalinga.  Over the weekend, both Annette and I had packed some supplies so we could spend a bit of time doing what we both love.  I think we talked more than we scrapped, but we both did manage to get a layout achieved each!!  Annette had requested that I teach her how to do my 'drippy' page....which is super easy and so fun, so this was a great idea, and gave us a bit of direction.
Here's the layout I came up with, based on the technique, and just altering the colours....

And here's a close up:

Be back soon!!

Jot Magazine August Challenge

This month I thought I'd have a go at the monthly challenge at Jot Magazine.  They have a very classy, very inspiring monthly online magazine, which I drool over each month.  They always have a pretty cool mood board challenge which I always intend to have a go at, but never quite seem to get there.  So this month I decided was my month.......
Here it is.....

Gorgeous right?   And blues.....whenever I see the colour blue I think of my beautiful mum whom I miss so very much.  I had just created a layout inspired by her, so a lot of blue was scattered across my scrap space....so when I saw this challenge, I went with what was on my desk, just adding splashes of silver.
Here's my layout:

And a close up:

I'm thrilled I was able to use those skeleton leaves.....they've been in my stash for quite some time.  And it feels so good to have scrapped some photos about my mum.....up until the last few days, I haven't been able to.  Quite therapeutic.....

Deer and Fawn August Challenge

Hi everyone!!  Happy FriYAY!

Today I managed to find time to create a layout inspired by the August Challenge.  The challenge this month is a tribute to Debbie and all her hard work at Deer and Fawn.  The challenge is to create a layout/card/art journal page about something you are thankful for and to incorporate flowers into this.

My layout is a personal one.  It's a story about when my mum passed away, and how thankful I am to have been able to be there with her when it happened.  It's about what a privilege it is to be a part of a moment like this.

I journalled quite a bit on this layout, so I tucked that into a pocket.  Here's a bit more detail.
\

I chose to work with blues because this was mum's favourite colour.  Here's another close up....

I love that scrapbooking is so personal for me.  I've been really missing her lately, and finding the time to document my feelings really helps.  When I look at this layout, although it makes me feel sad, it also makes me smile, as I now have something tangible that tells the story of how this moment made me feel.

I really enjoyed creating this one.....very therapeutic. I love that this challenge can be about something 'big', like mine, or it could be about something as simple as being thankful for your morning coffee!!
I look forward to seeing what you all do with this challenge......

Fun layout

This photo is one I've been wanting to scrap for a while.
For my daughters 12th birthday I set up a scavenger hunt through the town in which we live....lots of dares, lots of embarrassing things they had to complete.....and I requested photo evidence of all.  It was so fun and they really got into it.
One of the challenges was to have their photo taken outside Target, pretending to be mannequins. This was the photo evidence.....yep in their onesies! Love it!

I kept the layout fun as this was the feel of the photo.  I also wanted to go with the bright colours in the photo, but as there were lots of different colours, I anchored it all with a plain white background.  This was a really quick layout and was finished in about 20 mins (except for waiting for my paint splatters to dry).
