Let the adventure begin for 2Crafty Chipboard

Hello there creative souls
I've just popped into share my latest creation for 2Crafty Chipboard.
It's titled:

'Let the Adventure Begin'

A layout celebrating the moment my girl got her Learner's Licence.
Yikes!! Definitely a moment that needs to be scrapped.

I used the following 2Crafty Chipboard:

'Adventure' loopy font Title
'Steampunk Cog Strips'
'Steampunk Gears Small'
'Mini Fast Forward Arrows'

I began by colouring the 'Steampunk Cog Strips'.
I added a bit of this and a bit of that until I was happy with the mix.

I swiped a bit of black gesso, then added some metallique wax, some turquoise ink and a bit of copper wax too.

I did the same to the 'Steampunk Gears - Small'.
I really love the touches of turquoise.

I applied white gesso to the 'Adventure loopy font title'.
Once dry I added some swipes of turquoise ink and a touch of metallique wax too.

I painted a couple of the arrows from the 'Mini Fast Forward Arrows' in black gesso.
I popped out the inner arrows and then to the circular arrows I added some white pen marks.

Fun to use both of these arrows on the layout.

There you have it!

I hope this page has inspired you.

I'll be back again soon.

Teal and purple for the win!

Hi creative souls,

Today I've popped in to show you how I created my layout for our current challenge over at Scrap Matrix -  TEAL and PURPLE!

Now some of you know.....I struggle with purple. I'm a huge fan of colour - the brighter the better, but well me and purple...we don't like each other.  In fact I've been known to call purple my nemesis, my kryptonite.

I discovered this fact a couple of years ago when I went to create for a moodboard that was mainly purple, and I discovered that I had NOTHING purple!  I went hunting through my completed layouts and I discovered again....no purple!  I've never been a fan of purple in my wardrobe, but I hadn't ever noticed that this dislike had morphed into my creative life.
So.....time to become friends with purple.

I ordered a few purple paints and mists and have been dabbling over the last 12 months....still struggling a bit but determined to become friends with this colour....after all it's in the rainbow and I Love all the other colours.  Poor purple!

Something that has helped my block is the fabulous Michelle Bee.
She always says 'it's only red and blue'.  So true!  A game changer.

Doesn't the purple look gorgeous when paired with the teal???
I just might be a convert!

I scrapped a recent photo of my girl which I totally LOVE!!
(I may have borrowed it from her social media!)
A mum's gotta do what a mum's gotta do right?

Let's take a look at how this layout came together...

I selected white carstock as my base and added some modelling paste through my favourite Aall & Create Stencil.

Once dry, I added some Dylusions Ink Spray in Calypso Teal and Crushed Grape using the plastic packaging technique.

Just spritz some spray onto some packaging plastic that was heading for the bin, add some water and then splodge it onto the layout.

It's my most used technique, especially with sprays!

I then added some stamping using these Carabelle Stamps - Mixed Media Strips

I added my title to the top left of the layout - I used a clear word sticker by 13 Arts.

This then left room for the rest of the layout.

Time to add some embellishments!
I stamped some flowers onto another sheet of white cardstock using the gorgeous flower stamp by  Carabelle.
(Make sure you use archival ink for this step so when you add some colour, it doesn't bleed).

Time to colour them in.
I used the same Dylusions Ink Spray colours - I opened the bottles and painted them on with a brush.

I fussy cut these out and then I stamped some stems using the Carabelle Stamp - Scribbled leaves textured circles.
I kept these black and white.
I wanted the colour to be in the flowers and the background.

I then fussy cut these out.
These were then added around the photos, along with the flowers. I wanted them to look like they were cascading down the page.

I tucked some Writers Block tags by 7Dots around the photos, and then cut out some butterflies from a 7Dots sheet of paper.

Again, I love the black and white with the pops of colour.

The final step was to add some thread to the clusters.

Are you going to have a go at this gorgeous colour combo this month???

I highly recommend it.

You could win a voucher from Vicki's gorgeous store (just between you and me she has loads of new stuff and more to come, so how good would some splurging be?), and you could even get invited to come and play with us as a guest designer!

All you need to do it be inspired by this board:

Easy right.
You can create a layout, a journal page, a few cards, some tags.....whatever you like using some Scrap Matrix products.
Once you are done, just add it to the 'Teal and Purple' Album on the Scrap Matrix Shares Facebook page and don't forget to list the products you used.

I can't wait to check them out.

I'll be back again with another purple-y share soon.

Creative hugs

Tam

This is my Happy Face for 2Crafty

Hi there, today I'm sharing my latest layout for 2Crafty Chipboard.

"This is my Happy Face"

I created a process video so you can see exactly how this layout came together.....

These photos are of my brother and myself and were taken quite recently.
I was trying to get a nice photo of the two of us, and this is the best we could come up with!! My brother does not understand the word 'Smile'.  In fact, the second photo is his attempt at a smile, so this title is just perfect!!!
I used the following 2Crafty Chipboard:
"This is my Happy Face Title"
"Steampunk Strips"
"Geometric Arrows"
"Steampunk Gears Small"
As you'll see in the video, I cut the title in half as I felt that it suited my layout design better. I simply applied black gesso.  I LOVE this new title - always love having some humour in my layouts.  Not every layout suits the titles like 'cherish', 'wonder' etc so this new chippy piece really floats my boat!

I also applied black gesso to the "Geometric Arrows", and to some of the "Steampunk Gears Small" but I ensured they weren't totally covered. I kept some of the raw chipboard showing as I felt this gave it a more grungy feel which definitely suits my brother!!
Once dry, I swiped a little of the Art Alchemy Opal Magic in Aqua/Rose over the black - I love the greenish hue that occurs when swiped over black.
The effect on the "Steampunk Strips" was done by randomly adding a few different colours of Distress Oxides.

I'm really happy with the finish and the result.

All of these different steampunk designs suit my brother so well as he's into motorbikes and all things blokey.

Well that's it from me today.

I hope you've enjoyed this post and the video and I hope it inspires you to create something a little grungy!

Guest designing 2 months in a row at 7Dots Studio!!!

Guess what!!!

I'm a Guest Designer again over at 7Dots Studio!!!!

It's always been a dream of mine, and I was thrilled that it came true last month.  What could be better than that????
Guest Designing AGAIN!!
That's what!

I'm on a creative high, so let's go and take a look at what they had to say about me.....

Hello friends. Do you miss Spring? I do.
Spending time outside, gazing at the stars… I do miss warmer days.

Tammy Klingner is today our Guest Designer and her layout will give you a bit of warmth

Let’s Meet....

G’day, my name is Tammy Klingner and I live in the beautiful Clare Valley in Australia with my two amazing teenage children. I have been scrapbooking in one form or other for 14 years! I can’t imagine not having the creative outlet. It’s my peace, my joy and my sanity. I absolutely adore colour and you will find vibrant colour on most of my layouts. I also love to use paint and all things mixed media!. I absolutely love 7 Dots Studio products and am so thrilled to be guest designing here. Thank you!

I was inspired by the gorgeous colours of the mood board and that magic light that was evident in lots of the images.

Recently, on a family holiday we spent a night sitting at the beach, watching the sunset and then enjoying the view by the light of the moon. How lucky am I to be able to do this, to forget all my daily worries and just enjoy the magic of the moment. I used a photo I snapped on that night – it just fit the theme perfectly and by including it on this layout, it means I can always remember how magical the night was.

I began by adding some colour to the background by applying some Ink Spray onto my fave 7Dots Stamp – Hazy Days. That paint splatter appears on most of my backgrounds. It looks great in black ink and it also looks great in colour. I then added some stamping to my background using another stamp from this set and also a triangular background stamp from the Dreamscapes Collection. This time I went with black.

I then layered lots of tags and embellishments from a variety of 7Dots ranges as a background to my photos. I also added some to the top right corner of my page. This helps create the visual triangle that enables they eye to focus on the layout, and be drawn into it. I really love that all the 7Dots ranges complement each other. I love using a bit from this range and a bit from that range. It really makes the process fun and different every time!

I hope this inspires you to get creating, why not join in the fun of the 7Dots Challenge this month!
Thanks so much for having me. I’m thrilled to be asked to be a Guest Designer again!

There you have it.....

Thanks so much 7Dots Studio for having me again.

I also used loads of 2Crafty Chipboard in this one.

Here's a look at the challenge that inspired the layout.....
