Sassy Scrappers May Challenge

Wow did this months mood board over at Sassy Scrappers scare me!! I love the colours, and the black and white stripe, but think I was scared off by all the flowers!  Once I worked this out and decided not to go with flowers I had a blast!!
So here's the current mood board:

Gorgeous right??
So I got right into the black and white stripes (love!), the yellow and white chevron, the strong pinks, yellows, oranges and purples.  I also added black script as inspired by the font/writing.  Here it is:

And a close up:

A page inspired by my beautiful girl.  I love our relationship - she's so grown up right now and we love hanging out together. We talk, laugh, watch movies. I'm lucky we are so close, and share so much. I hope we are always close. I am truly inspired by her and her amazing beautiful soul.

You can check out the Sassy Scrappers challenge HERE

Happy scrapping!!

I've been playing with scraps.....

So I decided to have a play with the scraps leftover from a recent Project Life spread I shared, using the Inspire Paper Pad that Debbie sent me to play with. The pastels are just so yummy.  Previously I did a layout combining them with a black base, and making them pop, which I loved, so I thought I'd have a go at using a white background and see what happens.

I spritzed the page with a few different spritz colours, all in pastels, and then added a few strips of paper, some gesso, a bit of stamping.......

I'm really happy with it.  I decided to add gold to complement the soft colours, and of course you'll see in there a doily and some book paper - becoming my signature!
This layout is a personal one, explaining the story behind my One Little Word for this year......which you may have guessed is Brave.  Well done!  As the journaling is quite private, I created a little pocket that I will slip my thoughts/journaling into.

I hope you enjoy the page.  It was very therapeutic for me......
I love that scrapping is therapeutic for me in so many ways.....I get to be creative and play which comforts and calms my soul, and makes me forget all the crazy daily demands of my life, plus often my pages become filled with personal journaling.  I usually don't intend to start out that way, but there's something about the playing, the process, the calmness that comes over me that opens my inner thoughts.
Yep I really must start a personal messy, visual journal!!!

Have a lovely rest of week! Hope there's some creative flow in there for you.

Scrap the Boys May Challenge

There's a new challenge over at Scrap the Boys.

I always love their blog as its all focused on the boy stuff.  I tend to struggle with girly, feminine pages - you will rarely find a flower on my pages (although there's plenty in my stash!).  So I find these boyish challenges right up my alley!  I can get into them fairly quickly, whereas when I go girly I just tend to shuffle and procrastinate and go and pop some washing on......lol

So the challenge this month is:

And here's my take on it......

A fairly bright one for me this time.
See that black grid looking stamp? Well I created that by  grabbing one of my son's lego wheels, rolling it in black ink, and then rolling it across the page.  I LOVE it!! Will definitely be doing that again!
Here's a bit closer detail:

Thanks for stopping by.

K+ Challenge - May

What!!
2 posts in one day!!

Kraft Plus is one of my favourite challenge sites.
I'm a big fan of Kraft paper, combine that with great challenges that vary so much month to month, plus add in some pretty cool ladies on the design team and you have a winning combination.

This month's challenge, is a mood board

And here's my take on it

I was inspired by the stack of books and used layered strips to replicate this, and also book paper.  I rarely use flowers but I was inspired to dig some out of my stash. I was also inspired by the tree print in the top right picture, the string, and the autumn colour palette.

I actually found this one took me a while to begin....I shuffled papers around for a while, and couldn't decide on a photo.  But once I started, I found it very difficult to stop.  In face I could've kept layering.  Adding.  I had to tell myself to Stop and Walk away from the layout....LOL!

The details of the challenge are HERE if you want to check it out.  There's still plenty of time to enter.

Thanks for stopping by.

Scrapping Outback Challenge

So I thought I'd play along with the Scrapping Outback Challenge - I've never had a go at their Challenges before and the colours of this one really inspired me.
So the current challenge is to draw inspiration from this piccy and use at least ONE piece of chipboard.  All the colours must be used.

So here's what I came up with.......I really enjoyed just working with a white background.....eeek this was a bit new for Me! And a bit scary but I'm happy with the results.

I love this photo of my son and our Maisy...she was only a few days new to our family in this photo.  So Cute!

And here's a few close ups......

There's still plenty of time to join in......
Thanks for popping by.

Project Life

Hi Everyone.
Happy FriYAY to you all.
I managed to finally stick down a project life spread that had been sitting on my desk for a couple of weeks!  A good feeling to finally find that time, and of course now my brains ticking with What's Next? What's Next??
I created this double spread using the remainder of the Bo Bunny Misc Me Journal Pack that was in my Design Team Pack....you may remember the first spread I did, I used the pink's and navy's....here's a reminder....

This time around I concentrated on the red's and kraft's, and of course teal/aqua snuck it's way in there too! (always does).  I love how versatile this pack has been.  I've created two completely different weeks.  And I've had lots of scraps to use in layouts too.  Sometimes I find I get bored with the same colours in one pack (which often causes me to buy more - nothing like new products to get me scrapping).  But with this little pack I felt like I got a lot of diversity.  Anyway here's my spread.....

Sorry I think it's a bit crooked!

Left side.....
Right Side....

Sorry about the glare.....been waiting for more natural light.....but the weather just hasn't allowed.
And a close up.......

Have a lovely weekend everyone..... be back soon

Love Layout

Had a bit of fun playing with some of my gorgeous Deer and Fawn Design Team Goodies.  I'm so lucky to receive such beautiful NEW products to mess around with!!
I recently completed a Project Life Spread using the Inspire goodies.  I enjoyed working with the pastel colours.....I'm usually more of a stronger colour person...that's one of the other things I LOVE about being a Deer and Fawn Designers - it pushes me to try new things, and work with products that I wouldn't necessarily choose - this somehow forces my creativity to be pushed.....rather than creating in my comfort zone, and keeping things fairly Same, same - I'm forced to be different - and usually I really LOVE the results!!
So I had these pastels to work with....I decided to team it with black, and get messy in the background with a bit of mixed media. I played with Gesso, washi tape, gelatos, and spritz.

This is what I ended up with:

I love how the pastels POP off of the black......

As you know I'm a huge fan of words, so I loved using that quote on my page.  The font is awesome!
I got the frame you can see and the Love title by cutting up one of the 4x4" die cut cards.

Happy Scrapping..........

Project Life - Ideas for creating your own Cards

Hi everyone,
Thought I'd share what I've been up to lately.....
A few days ago I shared a sneak on facebook - some ideas for making your own project life cards for Deer and Fawn's May Challenge.  I kept it really simple and just played around with some white cardstock, stamps and ink, and really just repetition.  Here's the sneak of the cards I created:

So simple and so quick and easy!!

I have then used them in my spread for Project Life, and I'm really pleased with  how they look mixed in with other cards.  They're certainly NOT perfect, there's a few smudges and uneven, crooked stamping, but once you add photos and embellies you barely notice!

Here's a look at the left side:

And the right:

And a couple of close ups:

I was lucky enough to be able to play with the new Project Life Inspire Range available from Deer and Fawn Designs.  I especially love the stitched specialty cards.  Swoon!  I love the texture it creates to my pages.
I hope you get a chance to enter the May Challenge, as there's a $30 Deer and Fawn Voucher up for grabs!! Love a bit of guilt free shopping! Plus Debbie has lots of new stock in at the moment, so a great time to have a go!  Hopefully I've shown you that it doesn't need to be complicated!  Keep it simple...you gotta be in it to win it!

Here's a recap on the challenge in case you missed it:
Create 2 Project life cards on a project.....you can make them however you like....you could stamp, paint, spritz, whatever takes your fancy.  We would love to see them in your project life spreads, but for  those who aren't into project life, don't think this challenge isn't for you.... project life cards are awesome to use on scrap layouts too!!

Once created just link up on the Deer and Fawn Blog using the InLinkz tool on the right hand side. This link should be available in the next few days.
I can't wait to see your entries!
Bye for now

Quick Card

It was my wonderful partner and my Anniversary last weekend.
We went out for a nice meal and bottle of wine.  I so LOVE this man.
I always make the time to make him a card, and this is what I managed using gorgeous products from my Deer and Fawn Designs stash.

A bit more detail:

I think its important to make each other feel special - and that doesn't mean spending lot of money, just making time for each other, and a hand-made card goes a long way in this too.

Actually he made me a card too!! Yep... how's that!  I LOVE it.  He asked to go in my scrap room for a while and the next day presented me with a card.  It truly meant so much that he had taken the time to make it and also attempted to share my passion, and yep it was actually pretty good!! I said to him "Isn't it fun and relaxing?"  He just kinda looked at me funny and said "It was hard".  LOL. He didn't want me to share it but the kids were very impressed too - I love that they get to 'see' how thoughtful and caring he is.  So important.

Layout for National Scrap Day

Hi everyone,
I did a bit of playing over the weekend, inbetween netball trials, footy games and netball matches!

I really didn't have time, but my excuse to play was that it was National Scrapbook Day...AND the fact that I was BUSTING to get into my Deer and Fawn DT box! Thanks Debbie!!!
 Really...any excuse will do! LOL

The first thing I pulled out was a very awesome Donna Downey Stencil (I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT), some cool Micro-Beads by Finnabair in a gorgeous Copper colour and also a Prima Bloom Spray in a deep teal. I had been wanting to try out the Prima Sprays, so was pretty happy to get this in my hands!

I started by smearing texture paste over the stencil to create the 'This is Love' feature. I didn't want to detract too much from this so decided to create my cluster around my photo in the top right corner.
I used the deep teal in my background, just spritzed onto the paper and also to colour the chipboard frame and a flower -  I love how it made everything matchy-matchy! And whilst the spritz was still wet I poured on some micro beads.  I loved this! I love how they only stayed in some areas - I love the randomness of it.
I did lots of layering with leftover paper strips, doilies and washi.  I found it easier to staple all these together.
Here's what the layout looks like:

Isn't that stencil AH-MAZING!!!  I can't wait to use it again.

Here's a few close-ups of the clusters - you have to see those Micro-Beads.....YUM!

I hope you enjoy this layout - it's amazing what you can do with only an hour or two up your sleeve!

I'll be back again soon

Project Life spread

Hi all
I thought I'd wish you a  Happy Friyay!!
Let's start the weekend off with some inspiration.
Today I completed a week in my Project Life album.  I got to play with some pretty awesome new products from Deer and Fawn Designs. The colours in the  new Bo Bunny Misc Me Journal Pack jumped out at me straight away.  I loved the contrast of the soft feminine pinks and teals contrasted with the strong navy.  I'm usually more of a black kinda girl, so I really enjoyed playing with this mix.  I cut up some of the larger journal sheets (if you cut them in half they are a perfect 6x4 inch - Perfect!  I also cut out a few journaling shapes from one of the 6x4 cards.  I made some of my own embellishments by stamping onto card and then cutting that out.  I added a few doilies (I love the Deer and Fawn doilies - and the colours always seem to be the perfect shade for whatever project I'm working on.
Here's my double page spread:

I love doing Project Life.  I love capturing the everyday.  And as you can see I love the journaling.  I find it quite therapeutic to write about the week that was.  With 2 kids a lot happens in 1 week and I want to remember everything!  I completed a whole year last year and we love looking through it - it's amazing to see the change in our life and it really helps me remember the details.  It also helps me to put things into perspective.  I find I can easily get caught up in all the trivial things, and doing project life helps me to really appreciate and focus on what's really important.
When I create my 12x12 layouts, they are often very mixed media focused - it's my time to really play, experiment and be creative.  So I like to keep my project life simple - it's not about technique - its about the photos, the words and just getting it done.  I go back to basics with project life, and I really enjoy the process - both physically and mentally.  I love the planning, the sticking and pasting, and the documenting.
As I mentioned, I'm a big fan of words.  So along with this I love text paper and I loved playing with the little journal strip stickers - they seemed to say exactly the right phrases!

Here's the left page:

And here's the right hand side:

And a bit of a close up:

Well I'm off to do some more creating....I'll pop back in soon.  Have a great weekend. I hope you get some creative time.
